Selyna Kent of Winnipeg quit smoking, changed her diet and found a new zest for life. This is her story in her own words.

I am a year and a half into my health and weight loss journey, and if anyone had told me I would be where I am right now, I would have laughed and told them they were crazy.

When I think back to December 2017, my main focus was to be able to wear a bikini on my cruise in March. I started working out with a trainer and quickly realized what bad shape I was in. I felt like I was dying after every session. I decided that after almost 40 years of smoking, it was time to smoke my last cigarette. As of January 2, 2018, I can proudly say that I am a non-smoker!

I thought I was eating healthy and did manage to drop 15 pounds before my cruise, but that was not good enough for me. I had gotten a taste of what it felt like to be healthy and strong, and I wanted more. The gym had become my new addiction.

No matter how hard I worked at the gym with or without my trainer, I could not drop any more weight. I had plateaued and was becoming really frustrated.

In September 2018, I started training with Curtis at the Winnipeg Garden City Goodlife and changed my diet plan–what a difference this has made!

In the past 11 months, since I started training with Curtis, I am down an additional 20 pounds. His knowledge of the different phases of training is extensive. I have learned so much from him and now have the confidence to train on my own when I don’t have a session. I look forward to the next couple of months of training with Curtis and am excited to see how much more I can learn from him.

Overall, I have lost 40 pounds, and my body fat percentage is down at least 10 percent. I weight train with Curtis twice a week and twice on my own. I am so proud of my accomplishments and look forward to my new healthy lifestyle.
