WEEK ONE: Wow, so it’s hard... and I hurt. But I also can’t stop going back. I don’t know if it’s the workout high from all the endorphins, or the fact that I’ve challenged myself to do this for a whole month, but I actually WANT to go back. PEAK feels like a personal experience, and I think that’s primarily because of the coaches. They’re so involved, coming around and helping with any adjustments and motivation you need. So even though parts of me hurt like they’ve never hurt before, I go back again and again.
WEEK TWO: I feel like I’m getting the hang of this, it’s noticeably getting easier to get through a 30-minute class. I’m averaging about 3 to 4 PEAK classes a week, and I like that there are different workouts that use the same equipment but change the movements so you don’t get bored. I’ve also realized how addicted I am to my MyZone belt! I love the challenge of getting the numbers up and the colours to change, and seeing the report afterwards of just how hard I worked for those 30 minutes.
WEEK THREE: This week I really focused on being mindful like our coaches are teaching us. I love the start of the class when we're encouraged to take time to reflect on how we’re feeling. It gives me the chance to let go of anything that happened in my day and really focus in on some me time. It’s a great tool to come back to during the workout as well, and I can check in on how my body is feeling and when and where I can push a little more, or scale back a little if I’m struggling. This has also helped with my form and being able to complete the movements more effectively.
WEEK FOUR: I didn’t want to fall into a hole of obsessively standing on the scale every day, and with my diet not being the strongest there are some days where I just know I don’t want to look. But the amazing thing is, I found myself caring less about the number on the scale and more about what I’m seeing and feeling on my body. Muscles! My clothes don’t fit quite so tight (some days it used to feel like too much sausage in a casing) and I’ve been known to encourage friends, family and even coworkers to poke my newly developed muscles.
