Mindset

No matter where you’re coming from, or what you’re doing after, if your head’s not in the game it’s going to be tough to have a positive workout if your mind is elsewhere. If you’re having a tough time focusing, try taking a few moments before hitting the gym floor to let go of your nagging thoughts and focus about your goals.

Gear

No matter where you are in your fitness journey, you’ll find that having the proper gear that works for you is an important factor. Whether it’s an outfit that makes you feel comfortable, a great pair of weightlifting shoes or noise cancelling headphones.

Fuel

Ensuring you’ve got gas in the tank will make sure that you can actually make it through your planned workout. This is different for everyone depending on your goals, but nutrition goes hand in hand with exercise. Having the right kind of food before, after (and even during) will help you feel energized and achieving your goals.

Hydration

Not only is it important to be replenishing your liquids while you sweat, but what you’re drinking is also important. Water is the best option for most, and you should aim to be drinking about 30 ounces of water per hour of exercise.
