After having three baby boys in four years I think the number one comment I hear from people is how I’ve bounced back so quickly each time. I have to laugh when I hear this because nothing could be further from the truth.
If I can do it, so can you! It sounds very cliché but if I can inspire just one person with my success story, then it will be worth writing about it. If I step back in time to the beginning of August 2010, I was probably the heaviest I had ever been – 285 pounds.
As a young athlete in college, I never had to worry about gaining weight or leading a healthy lifestyle. It all came naturally. I was always involved in competitive sports and pretty much ate what I wanted.
Change is never easy. I was 25 years old, weighed 240 pounds and I was not feeling good about myself. I no longer wanted to go out and I was looking for a solution.
I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I remember being anxious and self-conscious of my weight from childhood right through to high school. By the time I was in university, my weight problems became even worse as the “freshman 15” piled on and eating became my comfort during stressful times.
