My name is Eric, I am 16 years old and I live in Strathroy, Ontario. As a kid, I was overweight and had very low self-confidence. I was always embarrassed to take my shirt off and I rarely took part in any sports. When I was younger, my mom convinced me to join GoodLife. It introduced me to a whole new lifestyle. I started to build confidence as I lost weight and gained muscle. I’ve never looked back.
After 2 years of being a GoodLife member, I realized that just running on the treadmill and trying to make an impression on the girls in the BODYJAM class would not help me to achieve my goal of a healthy lifestyle. I signed up for Personal Training in order to add variety to my workouts and to take it to the next level. The one on one training and expertise I received from the trainer helped me achieve my goals faster and more efficiently. The commitment to personal training kept me motivated to go to the gym even when I wasn’t feeling it.
To stay active, I aim for at least 1 hour of physical activity each day. I lift
weights 2 to 3 times a week. At school, I participate in basketball, badminton, track and field and football. My dream is to play football in university so it is important to be a well-rounded athlete. Having such a diverse range of activity always keeps me in good health and feeling great!
I am also passionate about nutrition. I am always looking for new ways to improve my diet. I feel it is important to eat good quality, fresh, home cooked meals. I am adventurous in the kitchen and I’m open to tasting different international cuisines. Recently, my research has led me to the decision to become a flexitarian. I am enjoying an increase in energy, better digestion and improved sleep which all help me achieve my healthy lifestyle goals.
Fitness has changed my life completely. It gives me confidence and makes me look and feel good. Before I started my fitness regime, I was fairly shy, awkward around girls and I didn’t do a lot of extracurricular activities. Since joining GoodLife, I play more sports, have a much larger social life and have a better self-image. Today I am an Executive Member of my Student Council and Captain of the football team at my school. I have a large network of friends and I have no problem expressing myself. I owe this to GoodLife.
Currently, I am loving my part-time job as a Member Ambassador at GoodLife in Strathroy. For me, the day that I was offered that position was the highlight of the new millenium! My major goals with my workouts are to keep working on my football abilities and to maintain a healthy body. My future goal is to have a career as a Registered Dietitian. My GoodLife membership has changed my life completely by allowing me to achieve to my full potential.
