Discounting the chocolate Easter eggs you likely indulged in over the recent holiday, did you know that eggs are actually amazing for you? I know, it’s hard to believe with consistent speculation that eggs are bad for your health.
So, let’s get some facts straight:
- An egg a day for a healthy adult will not lead to high cholesterol. In fact, eggs are part of the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Health Check program and according to the American Heart Association, lutein, a nutrient found in egg yolks, can prevent the progress of early heart disease.
- There is absolutely no difference in nutrients between a brown and white egg.
- No- your egg will not hatch into a chick if left uncooked for too long. Store-bought eggs are unfertilized.
- Rather than the “bad” part of the egg, the yolk is actually the largest source of vitamins and nutrients. So enjoy, we all know it’s the tastiest part!

See, eggs aren’t that bad! Packed into a mere 70 calories per egg are 6 grams of protein, 1 carbohydrate, 5 grams of fat, 195 milligrams of cholesterol, 65mg of sodium, along with beneficial vitamins.
With such a wide range of nutrients, eggs can assist with strengthening bones (Vitamin D), maintaining good vision (Lutein), even maintaining healthy skin (Vitamin A), for just a few examples. But perhaps the best benefit to eating eggs is the protein. Protein is vital to building and repairing body tissue such as organs, skin, hair, and muscles, and with 6 grams of protein in just one egg, obtaining these benefits is as easy as a few tasty bites! Protein is especially important for us GoodLife enthusiasts because after a tough workout our bodies need to repair in order to strengthen, and eggs can help us do that.

mmmm hen periods full of delicious cholesterol who could not resist these
How about the POWER to renovate the Rideau Centre Goodlife in Ottawa? Have you thought of that lately? I almost puked the other day due to the disgusting smell in that place.
Staple in my diet, for sure!!!
Eggs are awesome! SO many people are afraid to eat them!
I eat them at least 5 times per week. I love eggs!!
Instead of insulting the eggs, how about offering an alternative … Just as nutritious and in your statement – cruelty free? …. Just a thought…
Eggs rock! No pun intended!
Packed with nutrition~
Theres no need to replace or come up with an alternative to something that was never intended to enter our bodies.
But since you asked, Oatmeal is more nutritional then an egg, and it contains zero cholesterol.
eggs are great and a mere 2 pts / egg on the old Weight Watchers scale. Only thing I don’t like is how they make you feel heavy after eating them.
I eat 2 hardboiled eggs for breakfast every single day. I need the potein, since I’m mostly vegetarian.
I eat 2 hardboiled eggs for breakfast every single day. I need the protein since I’m mostly vegetarian.
It’s amazing how many people I know still hold onto the myth that eggs are bad for you.
Free range and organiquely fed because you are what you eat.
Eggs are my staple also. It is an old wive’s tale that they will increase your cholesterol. This has much more to do with your basic lifestyle ie. eating well, balanced, and exercise. I also eat oatmeal but it does not have the protein in it that eggs do!
Eggs are excellent and I love most of egg dishes… Only thing I want to comment is that putting plastic material in a microwave is now known harmful because heating the plastic can release ‘environmental hormone’ which is proven to be harmful for our body…
