Have you tried Newbody?
It’s an exclusive GoodLife Group EXercise program created by our very own Mo Hagan. It’s low impact, easy-to-follow & combines cardio conditioning with optional hand weights. It re-defines your body and empowers you.
Here are 10 things to expect at your first Newbody class, courtesy of Mo:
- You will sweat!
- You will move your body to music the entire class, and yet, feel more energized afterwards.
- You will get a total body workout.
- You will feel muscles that you did not think you even had.
- You may mix up your right foot from your left but you will be able to follow and feel successful by the end of class.
- You will have options that make it easy for you to take the workout at your own pace.
- You will not be the only new participant to class. New members are introduced to Group EXercise through Newbody.
- You will be surprised how light the Newbody dumbbells really feel, yet how challenging they can be.
- You will wonder where the time went as the workout flies by.
- Your instructor will be truly interested to hear your feedback at the end of class and he/she will be there to help address any questions or comments that you may have. Instructors care about your success.
BONUS! Here are 5 essential items to have with you at your first Newbody class:
1. A set of light hand-held dumbbells (weights) 1, 2, or 3lbs (we have many for you to borrow, if you’d like!)
2. A water bottle.
3. Good quality workout shoes
4. Comfortable, breathable workout clothes.
5. A smile

Here in Mississauga we love Newbody so much that 30-40 people were showing up for our Sunday morning class at Glen Erin at 9:30 a.m. We spoke up and the club listened because we now have an additional class at 8:30 a.m. starting Jan. 9. Newbody is an amazing class that will tone every part of your body. Your backside, legs and arms will work hard in this class and you WILL see amazing results if you do regular Newbody classes. I can’t think of a better cardio/toning class that everyone can do (no complicated choreography) but be prepared to sweat!
I would like to know if there are Newbody classes at your location in Penhorn Plaza, Dartmouth, NS
Hi Mary –
Not at the moment, but that may change soon! Penhorn is currently on a “New Club” class schedule, but will change to a full schedule this Monday (February 28th). At that time, Newbody may be added depending on instructor availability. Check out this link on Monday to see the new changes:

Is the Newbody classes recommended for pregnant woman? I am 26 weeks pregnant and am wondering if this is something I can do?
Thanks!
Hi Jennifer –
First of all, congratulations to you for staying active during your pregnancy! As your doctor has probably told you, keeping fit while pregnant often leads to a quicker and easier delivery. We wish you and your little baby lots of success on your big day.
Here’s what our Group EX experts had to say about Newbody during pregnancy:
It’s vital to first talk to your doctor to see if exercise during your pregnancy is advised (this will depend largely on whether or not you were exercising before getting pregnant).
If you get the green light, then yes – continuing with Newbody is safe. We’d advise, however talking to the instructor before your next class to see if any modifications can be made to the routine. For example, he or she may be able to show you an alternative move if floor work or balance are difficult for you.
Newbody is a low impact aerobic class. It requires coordination and balance amongst other things. As long as you are aware of your body’s needs and limitations, this is an ideal class to go to. The cardiovascular and the muscular components would certainly help you stay strong and active during the pregnancy period. It’s a slower pace than BODYATTACK or BODYSTEP, therefore, it is easier to follow without worrying about falling or losing balance.
Hi,
I really like the Newbody class and would like to do three a week. However, even with three clubs in my area, I cannot find three a week that fit with my schedule. I work full time and cannot go during the day, I can only go between 6.00 and 8.00 pm. Is there a way that the schedules can be arranged to suit an after work crowd? I am 54 years old and have been a Goodlife member for over 20 years. Newbody suits my aging body perfectly!!
Hi Fran – Glad to hear you enjoy Newbody so much, and thank you for your loyalty to GoodLife and fitness over the past 20 years!
I’d like to pass on this feedback to the Group EXercise Regional Manager in your area for future consideration – which clubs do you attend?
Hi Fran – which clubs do you attend? I’ll certainly pass on your feedback.
What is happening with our Newbody classes in London???
I can’t seem to find any!
I love them and they are great classes for all age groups.
Cathy B.
Hi Cathy,
There are actually a number of Newbody classes available each week in London. Please go to http://www.goodlifefitness.com and use the find a class tool to search for them. Maybe it’s a specific time that we’re missing for you? If that’s the case, please indicate your preferred time and I’ll pass your feedback along.
Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts.
In any case I will be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again soon!
Love it! Although I’m BodyAttack obsessed, I love NewBody because it’s nice to have a low impact cardio workout to add to my fitness class regimen. Natalie at Finch and Yonge Toronto is great
